Annual Science Fair Winners Announced

The annual Galileo Galilei Science Fair concluded last Friday with an impressive display of student innovation and scientific inquiry. This year's fair featured over 100 projects from students across all grade levels.
The grand prize went to Grade 11 student Emma Tremblay for her project on sustainable water filtration using locally sourced materials. "I wanted to create something that could make a real difference in communities without access to clean water," Emma explained during her presentation.
Second place was awarded to the Grade 9 team of Lucas Chen and Sophie Martin for their investigation into the effects of microplastics on freshwater ecosystems. Their detailed research and creative experimental design impressed the judges.
Third place went to Grade 7 student Ahmed Hassan for his innovative solar-powered phone charger made from recycled materials.
All participants demonstrated exceptional scientific thinking and presentation skills. The judges, which included local university professors and industry professionals, noted the high quality of projects across all categories.
"We are incredibly proud of all our students who participated," said Science Department Head Dr. Marie Leblanc. "The creativity and dedication shown by our young scientists gives us hope for the future."
The winning projects will be displayed in the school's main hall throughout the month and will represent Galileo Galilei at the regional science competition in May.
